The 4 Best Trails To Hike In The USA

Oh, America. Sweet land of liberty…and nature! Though less often talked about, the wildly diverse landscapes of the United States have so much to offer: rainforests and deserts, mountains and lakes, plus epic coastlines on either side. And all throughout it, no less than 100,000 hikes.

That makes creating a list of the top few hikes nearly impossible. But, since we live in a hustling, bustling world, few have time to trek them all. So while picking just three is tough, it must be done! Here are the top three picks for our different hiker types.

The 4 Best Trails To Hike In The USA

1. Lost Coast Trail, California

Despite the state’s 40+ million inhabitants, the Lost Coast remains almost completely remote – connecting smooth, sandy beaches to raggedly beautiful cliffs with lush forests perched on top. It’s 24.6 miles (39.6 km) long, and takes 3-4 days to trek. Head there in the fall for the best weather.

2. Cracker Lake, Montana (Glacier National Park)

In this well-known national park, so many trails run through it that you can choose a route anywhere from 5-16 miles and 1-2 days. Its slot canyon path shows off 18 million years of eroded rock walls. Much of the hiking is done along the riverbed, which runs from one canyon wall to another.

3. Kesugi Ridge Trail, Alaska (Denali National Park)

This 2-3 day hike is 36.2 miles (58.3 km) long, and packed with opportunities for adventure. It includes several steep climbs and boulder fields to cross – but the views are unbeatable and unforgettable.

The 4 Best Trails To Hike In The USA

4. Red River Gorge Loop, Kentucky

At 36 miles (57.9 km) long, The Red River Gorge loop takes about 2-3 days to cross full – and every step is an amazing chance to take in a variety of scenery, including diversely colored trees, that are especially magical in the fall. It’s also famous for its rock climbing opportunities. You can opt for the full hike, or escape down one of its many side trails to shorten the duration while still catching the epic backcountry views.

20+ Iconic Women Over 60

Making it in the entertainment industry is hard enough, but the stress that comes from being pressured to look good alone is enough to make anyone start looking bad, fast. But somehow, these women defy all the odds.

Sally Field, 72

For Sally Fields, her natural beauty seems to have masked a more difficult past than many people knew. Recently, Sally has published a tell-all about her life called In Pieces that just goes to show that things aren’t always what they appear – and that hardships don’t always have to stand in our way. “I didn’t know I had a voice,” she confessed. It turns out that playing the role of others helped her hide the role of her real-life for a long time, but they’ve finally been reunited – and they look GOOD.

Sally Field, 72

Geena Davis, 63

Everyone’s favorite scary sweetheart from Beetlejuice may have taken her career in different directions, but the extra work didn’t seem to age her one bit. As she grew up, political issues became increasingly important to her, and she dedicated so much time to fighting for them that she is regarded as an activist as much as she is an actress. But while fighting for the things she believed in, she never sacrificed her passion for acting in the process – simply choosing to portray “strong, authentic female characters.”

Geena Davis, 63

Jane Fonda, 81

Jane Fonda has at 81 what many of us wish we had at ages many years, even decades, younger: amazing skin, piercing eyes, and overall the face of a supermodel. But on top of that, she has some serious wisdom. With her own website featuring all kinds of life advice, she shares the many secrets of aging well – physically and mentally – that only someone of her age and looks can speak of with experience. All that being said, she has bravely acted in recent roles which tear beauty standards apart.

Jane Fonda, 81

Julia Roberts, 51

Once upon a time, Julia Roberts’ brother, with whom she’s had a tumultuous relationship, tried to take credit for the success in her career. Sorry, bud, but her incredible acting skills and stereotype-smashing characters won our hearts all on their own! This beauty queen has also now had the chance to be a Hollywood role model for her young niece Emma Roberts, an up-and-coming actress herself. If the genes run as strong as they look, she’s in for a beautiful future.

Julia Roberts, 51

Stacey Dash, 52

On her iconic role in Clueless, Stacey says, “What Mona May taught me is that the most important thing about fashion is that you feel good in it. If you like it, and you feel good in it, screw whatever anybody else thinks. And that’s how I dress. And that’s what I do, and I’m fine with it. I don’t really consider anything else.” And it seems she’s taken that approach to the rest of her life now as well: she’s decided to run for office in California. We’ll see how that goes!

Stacey Dash, 52

Jennifer Lopez, 50

What is happening with Jennifer Lopez looking exactly the same as she did a decade ago? It’s no secret that J.Lo has a regimented exercise routine, but it’s been a part of her lifestyle for her whole life with a long history as a dancer. She even danced backup for stars like Janet Jackson before she had a name of her own. At this rate, she will always be Jenny From The Block, and she’ll always look like her, too.

Jennifer Lopez, 50

Oprah Winfrey, 65

Oprah has simply refused to disappear from our television screens for the last thirty-something years – and it appears she’s refused to age, too. If helping other people is the secret to staying young, it’s about time this world becomes a very different place! Oprah never seems to fall short of ways to help people. She’s there with intellectual advice, spiritual advice, readable advice, audible advice, and just about every kind of advice you can imagine. But all we want is advice on how to look that good!

Oprah Winfrey, 65

Halle Berry, 52

Your first thought is probably, “Excuse me, Halle Berry isn’t 52!” And while it may not look like it, it’s true. Her face isn’t the only flawless feature – she could rock that catsuit just as well as she did almost 20 years ago. But her diet isn’t actually about looks: it’s been quite affected by an early diabetes diagnosis at just 19, and it’s making us wonder if it could help us all look that good, too. If you’re curious, she wrote a cookbook!

Halle Berry, 52

Meryl Streep, 69

Meryl Streep’s acting prowess already has the world shaking in its boots and wondering what the source of her power is. Now, as the time goes on and she continues to wow us year after year in her films and on the red carpet, it’s time to ask ourselves: is she an alien? She’s been quoted on saying that she’s never been confident in her beauty, but we are here to tell her it’s way past time to look in the mirror and accept the truth.

Meryl Streep, 69

Iman, 62

We’d love to say that this supermodel’s flawless skin is simply the magical blessing of having shared a deep love with one of music’s all-time love masters, the late David Bowie, to whom she was married for decades. Because the greatest thing is just to love and be loved in return. But having lived on so many different continents, she’s probably picked up the best beauty secrets of many cultures around the world. No doubt her Somali genetics have something to do with that flawless skin, too.

Iman, 62

Kristin Scott Thomas, 59

Kirsten is really not complaining about growing older – apparently, it suits her much better, and it looks great on her, too. She’s said, ” Youth is a terrible weight to carry. Once it’s gone there’s such relief. I no longer have that panicky need to accumulate experience. I feel more detached from people’s idea of me … And despite saying I was retiring, it turns out I like making films. Life is about changing your mind.”

Kristin Scott Thomas, 59

Angela Bassett, 60

Despite having a timeless Hollywood face, Angela didn’t plan on becoming an actress. “I thought I wanted to be a pediatrician because my mother would clean up a pediatrician’s office,” she explained once. “So I was like, ‘Oh, OK, baby doctor.’ Until I got to college, and all the courses of science with the blood, guts and cadavers? I was like, ‘Mm, no.'” Advice she has for 20-somethings: “Don’t be afraid to do it all. Whatever you’re interested in, just go for it. Don’t wait around for a better time.”

Angela Bassett, 60

Frances McDormand, 62

Are you kidding us, Frances? Not only is she still wearing the same smile that we all fell in love with decades ago, but those eyes – as bright as ever – still seem to stare right into your soul. But that’s not even the craziest part of her unparalleled beauty. After her bright yellow Birkenstock Oscar moment, she defied all expectations at the 2018 Academy Awards: this goddess isn’t wearing a drop of makeup. Everyone said it’s because she didn’t wear a black dress, but we all know the real trend being broken here…

Frances McDormand, 62

Cate Blanchett, 50

While the roles that Cate Blanchett has taken on over the years and the awards that she’s been nominated for have changed drastically, Cate Blanchett’s beauty just keeps shining. But she certainly didn’t aspire to be a beauty icon when she was younger – at just 15, she shaved off all of her hair. In her spare time between winning awards and being ogled, she likes to make lists and cross off her accomplishments. She can cross off defying physics anytime!

Cate Blanchett, 50

Sigourney Weaver, 69

Sigourney Weaver is not messing around when it comes to giving her career longevity. She rose to prominence in the Alien franchise, and her advice for anyone else who wants to achieve a long career in Hollywood is strong: “I’ve jumped from drama to comedy to sci-fi. You’ve got to change it up and every day go [for the ones who make you think], ‘I don’t know whether I can do this.’ I’m happy and very comfortable taking risks in my work. That’s why it’s interesting.”

Sigourney Weaver, 69

Julie Andrews, 83

There’s just no beating Julie Andrews. She won an academy award – as best actress, no less – for her FIRST ever feature film debut in Mary Poppins back in 1964, and her career certainly hasn’t slowed down since then. Neither has her beauty, it seems! As a prototype of grace for both Hollywood and England, she can flash that same iconic smile in someone’s direction with many different meanings – up for interpretation. But amazingly, the smile itself has managed to stay the same for all these decades.

Julie Andrews, 83

Carrie-Anne Moss, 51

Carrie-Anne’s face will live on in everyone’s hearts as the beautiful powerhouse from The Matrix, a dystopian film classic. But the bravery and reason she portrayed in this iconic role fully suits her personal life, too – channeling just as much of that fearless attitude when personal things get tough. She explains that her “moments of great insecurity…did ultimately inspire me to rise up higher.” If bravery can make you beautiful, that would certainly explain her looks!

Carrie-Anne Moss, 51

Judi Dench, 84

On the long list of things you just can’t believe, consider one of the greatest actresses of all time’s greatest fear: that each movie will ruin her career. At 84 years, it’s obvious to everyone now that her beauty is indestructible. But there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that it’s her fiery, versatile talent that keeps her in business and winning award after award. She says her success comes from always looking for something fresh in the roles she takes on.

Judi Dench, 84

Raquel Welch, 79

With her 80th birthday just around the corner, there is no stopping Raquel Welch! A poster girl over the course of the late 60s/early 70s, the actress/singer has maintained a reputation as one of the most beautiful women in the whole of showbiz. Even now, Welch is still working sporadically in TV and film and regularly appears at awards ceremonies. Despite going through four marriages and having two kids, Raquel Welch is looking incredible for a 79-year-old woman.

Raquel Welch, 79

Michelle Pfeiffer, 61

It’s no secret that Michelle Pfeiffer does not like to be interviewed, so digging deeper into the secret of her beauty isn’t happening yet. She once jokingly asked and interviewer, “Did anyone forewarn you that I’m maybe, like, the worst interviewee that ever was?” But she did admit she lives in fear that she is a fraud and will be found out. “I think that’s because I started working fairly quickly and I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have any formal training.” With a face like that, no one’s judging.

Michelle Pfeiffer, 61

Salma Hayek, 52

As time goes on and Salma Hayek manages to look almost exactly the same year after year, someone finally had to ask exactly how she pulls it off. She definitely isn’t wasting her time: keeping a healthy diet and regular exercise routine, Salma makes a point out of living a healthy life, which has inspired many women her age. But she’s proud of her routine and down with a helping platform, inviting women to ask her advice and encouraging them to achieve their goals.

Salma Hayek, 52

Elizabeth Hurley, 54

The secret to Elizabeth Hurley’s face – besides being obviously genetically blessed – is the same secret as the rest of her extraordinary body: staying active. It started as a lifestyle of health, but now that she’s modeling her own swimsuit line, it’s become essential to keep up. That doesn’t mean she’s spent the last few decades as a gym rat; she just prefers to do activities that challenge the body, and live a healthy lifestyle around it. It keeps her young…obviously.

Elizabeth Hurley, 54

Goldie Hawn, 72

This classically beautiful Hollywood babe-next-door has been around for a long time – but you wouldn’t know it from looking at her. It’s almost impossible to believe that she’s now 72! It’s true – she doesn’t look a day over 50. What does it take to maintain yourself this well? You might be surprised that this lady doesn’t have any unusual regimens – she simply does her best to keep healthy from the inside out. “I walk every day and I run and do all kinds of that,” says Goldie, as well as trying “to have as much fun as possible.”

Goldie Hawn, 72

Demi Moore , 57

This is one actress who seems to have stopped time – she may look even better now than she did a few years ago! What’s Demi’s secret? “I think that laughter and smiling are one of the best antidotes to aging that you could possibly have,” she told Parade in 2010. That’s a beautiful sentiment, but the truth is that Moore has admitted to having tightening treatment and leech therapy to rejuvenate herself. If getting leeched is what it takes to look like that at 57, we’ll definitely give it a shot!

Demi Moore , 57

Cindy Crawford, 53

When you look at Cindy Crawford, there’s no way you would think you’re looking at someone who’s been alive for over half a century. But it seems the good genes that made Crawford the top supermodel of the 90s have continued to hold strong. Her secret for keeping young is: “There’s no secret. Looking good is about eating right, getting enough sleep and drinking lots of water,” she told Redbook, “Also, you have to get moving. I work out several times a week, and I hike and ride bikes.” Noted!

Cindy Crawford, 53

Phoebe Cates, 56

There is no denying that Phoebe Cates could easily pass for being in her 30s at this stage in her life. The star of classics such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Gremlins was undeniably an iconic figure of the 80s. After tying the knot with fellow actor Kevin Kline, it seems like Cates was happy to walk away from the Hollywood spotlight and focus on building a family. The former actress still makes public appearances with Kline and fans still can’t take their eyes away from her.

Phoebe Cates, 56

Christie Brinkley, 63

She may have repeatedly topped beauty polls, but Christie Brinkley is not just a pretty face. The first model to cover three consecutive Sports Illustrated magazines, her interest in fitness has remained a huge part of her life.

Christie Brinkley, 63

Julianne Moore, 57

Julianne may have gotten a fair amount of awards in her life, but it’s about time she gets one for her beauty, too. She confesses to being a junkie when it comes to skincare, embracing a few of the many helpful routines available to us all in this day and age. But the older she gets, the more she is prepared to deal with the natural aging process – which is something she wishes she could tell her younger self.
