So you’re off to Madrid? Not to worry if it’s only a quick visit, two days is plenty of time for you to do everything you need to do and see all that you need to see. There’s plenty of museums, historical sites, parks and restaurants for you to check out, and 48 hours is just enough time to soak up the Spanish capital’s unique culture. Here’s how we think you should do it.

First Stop

On arrival take yourself to the Puerto del Sol. This is Madrid’s central plaza and a busy hub for you to center your sightseeing around. Here you can see the city’s main iconic symbols such as the Kilometre zero and the Oso y el Madrono.

Next, take a stroll down the Plaza de Oriente. This is a beautiful square where you can have a guided tour of the impressive Royal Palace of Madrid. Adjacent to the Palace is the picturesque Almudena Cathedral too - perfect for learning about Madrid’s rich history and cultural heritage. Not far from here is the Plaza Mayor where you can tuck into Madrid’s famous calamari sandwich!

Shopping Time!

Then head to a street called Calle Preciados for a bit of shopping! After this, head back to the Puerto del Sol plaza. From here you keep exploring, visiting other nearby destinations like the charming Sabatini Gardens or the Plaza de Espana full of fascinating historical statues and monuments.

Into The Evening

You can also get around on the metro system, starting at Banco de Espana. For dinner and nightlife, we recommend going to the Plaza de Espana. The area is full of the best authentic restaurants to tantalize your taste buds, and there are also plenty of street bars for a fantastic night out.

Finally

Don’t forget to visit the Prado Museum. This is Madrid’s most prestigious art gallery and home to some of the world’s most renowned pieces of work. Close to here is also the Retiro Park, often packed with wonderful musicians, magicians, and other street artists. The park is perfect for soaking up both the city sun and the city’s bustling Spanish lifestyle.
