Legoland Has a New Gondola Ride Coming This Summer
Excitement is soaring at Legoland as the theme park prepares to unveil a thrilling new attraction at its New York location this summer – the Minifigure Skyflyer!
The Ride
This gondola-style ride will take visitors on a whimsical journey through the air, featuring seven individually themed pods, each offering a unique experience from pirates to outer space. The pods will be ADA-accessible and each one will accommodate up to 10 people. Stephanie Johnson, Divisional Director of LEGOLAND New York, expressed, “There’s a lot to enjoy at LEGOLAND New York, but it’s a big Resort and our fans asked us for more ways to move easily from the upper and lower levels of the Park. We take our guests’ feedback seriously and the Minifigure Skyflyer gives them a way to do exactly that while igniting creativity, sparking imagination, and inspiring movement through disco and dance.” The interactive experience begins even before boarding, with guests invited to help “charge” the cable car batteries through hand-powered cranks. Once on board, riders will be treated to a disco-themed dance floor at the boarding platform and hear the captivating story of how the park’s minifigures created the Minifigure Skyflyer. As the ride takes flight, passengers can enjoy panoramic views of the park and Miniland while engaging in activities inside the pods, such as learning pirate speak or joining a sky-high sing-along.
The Announcement
To commemorate the launch of the Minifigure Skyflyer, Legoland has adorned a pair of ski gondolas at Belleayre Mountain with special themes. Visitors riding these gondolas until April can scan a QR code to receive a free kids ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Located just over an hour from New York City, Legoland New York opened its doors in 2021 and has since been recognized as a certified autism center, offering accommodations such as sensory guides and quiet rooms for children with sensory needs.
