Ron Howard

Acting and directing were in Ron Howard's blood as he was the eldest son of Jean Speegle, an actress, and Rance Howard, a director, writer, and actor. He played the son of Sheriff Andy Taylor in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show from 1960-1968. But he gained fame as Richie Cunningham in Happy Days from 1974 to 1984.

After his acting career, he directed Splash (1984) and has gone on to direct many huge blockbusters, including Apollo 13 (1995), The Da Vinci Code franchise, and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018).

John Travolta

John Travolta was the embodiment of disco on film. His major success came when he gyrated his hips in the musicals Saturday Night Fever (1977), Grease (1978), and Staying Alive (1983). Unfortunately, the mid-to-late 1980s saw a significant decline in his box-office appeal, and the actor went through a rough period, releasing several bombs.

Travolta had a major comeback thanks to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1995). Travolta funded and produced Battlefield Earth (2000), often cited as the worst film ever made!

Ann-Margret

Gorgeous Swedish-American actress, singer, and dancer Ann-Margret Olsson is best known for warbling "Bye Bye Birdie" in the film of the same name. She became a 1960s it-girl and starred in films like Viva Las Vegas (1964), Carnal Knowledge (1971), and The Who's rock opera Tommy (1975).

She continued her film career with Grumpy Old Men (1993), The Break-Up (2006), and Going in Style (2017). She has won six Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes, two Grammy Awards, and was nominated for two Oscars.

The Beach Boys

Brothers Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, plus friend Al Jardine formed The Beach Boys in 1961. At the height of the British invasion, they melded pop with rock n' roll. Their beautiful harmonies about surfing, cars, and girls in songs like "Surfing USA" and "Good Vibrations" epitomized 1960s California.

The Beach Boys

Pet Sounds (1966) is often cited as one of the best albums ever made. But they had many famous fallings out, splits, replacements, and comebacks as members argued about rights, royalties, and the use of the band's name.
